![]() all get adde the the DNG file, and the entire things gets uploaded every time it's updated. That is one of the disadvantages of using DNG format, any edits, additional metadata, etc. at this point all the files are available for viewing or editing on both platforms and any changes made on one platform automatically replicate set up Lightroom Classic to sync smart previews only to the Adobe Cloud backup and store the files as usual using external storage and NAS import into Lightroom Classic on the computer for all normal edits delete everything from the ipad (not forgetting the photo cache) at home use Photosync to copy the files from ipad to computer over wifi import raw+jpg to the ipad Photos app and go through deleting obvious rejects (Apple treats raw and jpg as a single unit so both are deleted together) Here is what I do when shooting raw+jpg with Fuji X series: Yes agreed - I do a variation of this - its surprising how many smart previews you can get in 20GB and you end up being able to edit on computer or ipad - in LR and LR Classic. It complicates the work-flow but saves you money Remember if you don't upload the raw files but only the smart previews then you don't use any space on the Abode cloud (these sync for free). You can do this by using the sync to cloud option (works both ways with feature which both LR C & LR CC support) - never had an issue since I worked out how to do it.Īlso if you set things up correctly you can load images to iPad and not sync them to the cloud and then back them up to your hard-drive once you get home. I cannot imagine that I am the only one to have encountered this dilemma. There seems to be two ways forward: upgrade my 50Gb iCloud sub to 2Tb and do all my editing in Photos (which has only half-three quarters the capability of Lightroom), or upgrade the Adobe subscription to 1TB and figure out how to get iPad edits to transfer across to the Mac. (The NAS backs up to Google Photos and Amazon Prime Drive. Doubtless if I just went over to Lightroom cc life would be easier, but I prefer to keep my raws on a NAS rather than relying on the cloud exclusively. I like to edit my photos on Lightroom Classic, but have never been able to get the edits to carry over to the Mac. ![]() This is a pity, as Lightroom works well on the iPad Pro the power consumption makes the app usable, but it insists on shipping my DNGs to its cloud and so inevitably runs out of space. Unfortunately, 20Gb is not normally enough for a day’s shooting. I have the basic Adobe photography bundle, which comes with 20Gb of storage.
